Established in 1878, Borden Grammar School is a smaller-than-average secondary school for boys with academy status. A small, community school, Borden Grammar School specialises in sport and languages. The school’s motto ‘nitere porro’ means ‘to strive forward’. There is also a sixth form at Borden Grammar School, which admits a small number of girls.

Highsted Grammar School

Specialising in science, Highsted Grammar School is a selective school for girls established in 1904. An academy that admits both boys and girls into the sixth form, Highsted Grammar School partners with two nearby schools to expand the range of A-Level courses offered. In Year 9, some pupils from nearby Sheppey middle schools transfer to join Highsted Grammar School.

Founded in 1549, Maidstone Grammar School is a larger-than-average selective school for boys with a specialism in languages. There is a sixth form, which girls are also admitted to. The main sports at Maidstone Grammar School are rugby, cricket and football, with opportunities to join in other sports too, such as rowing and athletics.
